Earning High Marks
Last November, Fibertech participated for the first time in a confidential survey considered in a ranking of the 2012 Best Companies to Work For in New York State. At an awards dinner held in Albany, NY, on Thursday, April 26, the company was recognized as #11 in the small business rankings.

“We are delighted with the results,” said Fibertech Chairman and CEO John Purcell. “Our employees and loyal customer base are why our company is so successful. Results like these show that we continue to move in the right direction.”

The surveycompiled by the Society for Human Resources Management, the Business Council of New York, and Best Companies Groupranked companies based on employee satisfaction, engagement, and workplace policies and practices. The survey also explored opinions on areas regarding everything from pay and benefits, to role satisfaction and supervisor relationships.

Fibertech scored well in nearly all of the categories, partly due to its implementation of a variety of programs focused on wellness initiatives, increased benefits packages, and other health-related programs. The company scored highest in categories such as work environment, overall engagement, and corporate culture and communications, showcasing the strong internal culture, high employee morale, and the work that Fibertech does to support it.

“Certainly the accolade of being in the top 25 was important, but we were also interested in any improvements that could be made,” said Jackie Sax, director of human resources, Fibertech. “To ensure that all goals are being met, and as a result of the expectations and concerns that employees have expressed, Fibertech has begun to implement changes to our systems to make sure employees are equipped with the resources and tools that can provide high-quality service to customers.”

Being recognized among the top 25 Best Companies to Work For in New York State has validated Fibertech’s current efforts and determined new areas of focus that can be improved on. While the company has been recognized in the past for its customer service by organizations like the ATLANTIC-ACM, it is now easy to understand why such positive results always occur: Employees are satisfied and happy with what they do, and in return, that translates elsewhere in day-to-day activitiestherefore creating a better business experience. With that, Fibertech recognizes the importance of maintaining the best practices in all areas. The company will continue to invest in its employees in order to exceed the high expectations they set for themselves and the future of its business.

“Our employees are our greatest asset and have proven over and over again to be the best investment we make in our company,” concluded Purcell.
