Fibertech and Providence Tech Collective Partner For IT Scholarship

Scholarship promotes IT industry; fund and develop workforce pipeline

Tech Collective, Rhode Island’s IT and Bioscience Industry Association, today released applications for its 2010 scholarship offerings. The 5 scholarships total $7,000, one of which is being funded by Fibertech Networks. The scholarships aim to raise awareness around the IT industry, particularly in Rhode Island, and to aid in funding and developing the IT workforce pipeline.

Fibertech Networks / Tech Collective Scholarship – $3,000 scholarship established for one female Rhode Island high school student planning to pursue a degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or other IT field. The student must provide evidence of interest and participation in IT initiatives throughout high school.

"We expect this kind of scholarship to help foster technical talent that is crucial for area businesses and organizations to meet the expanding IT challenges and opportunities ahead of us."

Recipients of any scholarship must be a legal Rhode Island resident and attend a Rhode Island college or university. Tech Collective will administer the scholarships.
